St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Korianna Parker, 24, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:52 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft. A deputy located Parker at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of shoplifting at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Parker was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on a $1,507.50 bail.
—Jade Aucoin, 20, of Crenshaw Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors.
—Jacob Klenert, 18, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors.
St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives observed a vehicle cross the yellow line of U.S. 90 and conducted a traffic stop. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Aucoin, and passenger, Klenert. During the investigation, Aucoin granted verbal consent to search the vehicle. Detectives found synthetic cannabinoids and drug paraphernalia. Both were released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.
—Donald Gibson, 50, of Patricia Lane in Harvey, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
St Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives received a complaint from a concerned citizen of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Bayou Vista Truck Stop. Detectives made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as Gibson. While speaking with Gibson, detectives detected an odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Gibson granted verbal consent to search the vehicle. Detectives located marijuana. Gibson was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Ruben Bias, 59, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:28 a.m. today, for appearing in public intoxicated, warrant for failure to appear in court. Bias was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $292.
—Joshua Zuvich, 30 of Patterson, was arrested at 1:13 a.m. today for DWI second offense, wrong way on a one-way road, and possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. Morgan City police are holding Zuvich for the Lafayette Police Department.
Zuvich was involved in a disturbance at the Sports Bar, located at La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. While officers were en route to the scene, witnesses advised that he had left in a vehicle. Officers noticed the vehicle at La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and then the vehicle began travelling north in the southbound lane of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. He was stopped and determined to have been drinking. Zuvich failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. He was taken to jail where he was given an intoxilyzer test which yielded a result of .149 grams-percent. He is still being held. No bail is set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
