Central Catholic and Patterson are receiving recognition in the initial Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s boys basketball polls.

The Eagles are ranked No. 2 in Class 1A, while Patterson received a vote in the Class 3A poll.

While Christian Life is the top-ranked team in Class 1A, Central Catholic (11-3) defeated them last week in Morgan City.

The Crusaders received six first-place votes and 127 points overall, while Central Catholic received five first-place votes and 123 votes overall.

Central Catholic’s district foe and their opponent tonight in their district opener, Ascension Episcopal, also is ranked in the Class 1A poll in the No. 7 spot.

In Class 4A, Morgan City’s district foe and their opponent Friday night, Vandebilt Catholic, is receiving votes, while in Class 3A, North Vermilion, who Patterson beat handily in district play earlier this season, is receiving more votes (18) than Patterson.
