PIERRE PART, La. — Keep Louisiana Beautiful will continue to implement its “Seeding for a Better Tomorrow” project by giving away 500 cypress seedlings to the public beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pierre Part Store, 3421 La. 70 South, in Assumption Parish.

This will be the second of several distributions held throughout the state.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful recently received a grant from Dow Chemical’s DOWGives Louisiana Community Grant Program. The $3,900 grant is funding a statewide effort to promote environmental sustainability and protection of Louisiana’s natural resources.

Attached to the seedlings will be an informational card with instructions on how to plant and care for the tree, as well as information on the Dow and Keep Louisiana Beautiful partnership. Keep Louisiana Beautiful and DOW employees will be in attendance to help distribute the seedlings.

The bald cypess is the official state tree of Louisiana.
