BAYOU VISTA, La. -- A two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler Monday night on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista at Fairview Street resulted in one of the drivers being charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and sustaining minor injuries, according to Stephen Hammons of Louisiana State Police.

The driver of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, 22-year-old Blaine Ledet of Morgan City was arrested and charged with improper lane use, no seat belt, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of marijuana, Hammons said.

Ledet sustained minor injuries, Hammons said.

State Police records did not show a full highway closure, but Hammons said there may have been a section of the highway closed.

The Bayou Vista Volunteer Fire Department responded to crash with two pumping trucks and a rescue truck and about 15 firefighters, said Bayou Vista Fire Chief Ricky Roberts.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, Hammons said.

Ledet was taken to the Teche Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
