Parish council meets Wednesday

A brief agenda awaits members of the St. Mary Parish Council when they meet in regular session tonight.

To be considered are resolutions approving the call of a tax renewal election on May 4 by Hospital Service District 1; application for funds from the Governor’s Community Water Enrichment Fund for the construction of a water line along La. 318 in Sorrel to connect Water and Sewer Districts 4 and 5, and for laboratory improvements the at Waterworks District 5 treatment plant; and the annual state compliance questionnaire on the Section 8 Program.

Ordinances to be introduced include one on a $5.15 million sales tax refunding bond dedicated to solid waste and another on an act of land donation by Bruce and Sandra Saucier on the old Oaklawn sugar mill property.

The council also will consider appointments to various boards and commissions.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the courthouse in Franklin and is open to the public.
