Safety Management Systems is a division of Acadian Ambulance and is one of the largest health, safety, environmental, medical, security and training service companies in the United States. A graduation ceremony recently was held for the eighth class.
The three-phased program was developed with practical application in mind. The graduation ceremony follows the first phase — six weeks of job specific training in the construction, drilling and well service disciplines. The 12 graduating students have since begun the second phase of training which is a four-month mentoring phase in which they shadow an experienced and tenured safety technician in the field. In the last phase, the students are assigned to their own location and a field supervisor conducts quality compliance evaluations to gauge their proficiency.
“In such a challenging field it is imperative that we provide our ARD students with the education, training and tools that they need to succeed,” Scott Domingue, Safety Management Systems president, said. “I am confident that we have created the most complete and well-structured program available.”
Since 1971, Acadian has been committed to providing the highest level of emergency medical care and transportation possible. In the past decade, the company has expanded to include a diverse suite of services in health, safety and transportation. Acadian’s six divisions are Acadian Ambulance Service, Acadian Monitoring Services, Air Med, Executive Aircraft Charter Service, National EMS Academy and Safety Management Systems.
