BERWICK — Patterson remained perfect in District 9-3A action as it eased past Berwick, 72-24, in league play Friday.
The ‘Jacks (12-5 overall, 8-0 in district) raced out to a 28-0 first quarter lead and entered halftime with a 43-5 advantage.
While Berwick was able to compete with Patterson in the third quarter as it was outscored just 19-15, Patter-son outscored the home squad 10-4 in the fourth quarter.
Patterson had 10 players score, including three in double figures as Mykel Jones scored 13, Denzel Johnson added 11 and Ne-hemiah Augustus contributed 10.
Other top Patterson scorers included Jedrick Gunner and Daylon Charlot, six points each; Deondre Skinner and Malik Garrett, six points apiece; and Dontrell Benjamin and Taylan Grogan, four points each.
Nick Canty led Berwick with five points, while Devin Tabor added four, and Audwin Williams, Tim Shel-by and Johnny Lombas each scored three.
The Panthers (6-16 overall, 0-8 in district play) will continue district play Tuesday when they host North Vermilion, which was ranked 10th in the latest Class 3A poll released by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Boys’ varsity action is set for 7 p.m.
Patterson, which received votes in the latest poll but likely will move up after bashing North Vermilion last week in addition to Friday’s win, will host Kaplan.
Central Catholic blasts VC
Central Catholic routed Vermilion Catholic, 78-47, in District 8-1A action in Abbe-ville Friday to complete the first round of district play undefeated.
Central Catholic (15-3 overall, 4-0 in district) took a 21-12 lead after a period of play and took a 32-24 lead into the half.
The Eagles broke the game open in the third quarter as they outscored Vermilion Catholic, 29-10, for a 61-34 lead after three quarters.
Central Catholic hit 10 three pointers in the contest, including three by Josh Singleton, who finished with 11 points.
Dontrell Brown led Central Catholic with 19 points, while Tyler Hoffpauir also reached double figures for Central Catholic with 10 points.
In junior varsity action, Central Catholic defeated Vermilion Catholic, 40-21.
Cedric Gant and Stephano Guarisco scored 11 points apiece to lead Central Catholic.
