BAYOU VISTA, La. -- The death of 18-year-old Keyiona Chenevert of Bayou Vista, who was found dead in an apartment on Three B’s Lane on Jan. 21, remains under investigation, according to the St. Mary Parish sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The sheriff’s office will not release information on the case as it would jeopardize the integrity of the ongoing investigation, said Traci Landry, public information officer.

Autopsy results from the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s office have not been released.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Chenevert died as a result of injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call on Jan. 21 of an unresponsive subject in an apartment on Three B’s Lane off of Pluto Street in Bayou Vista.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased female in the apartment. The female victim later was identified as Chenevert.

Chenevert was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish coroner.
