The graduation ceremony took place at St. Mary CAA’s Central Office in Franklin Jan. 23.
Surrounded by smiling people in a room full of cameras and guests, the graduates, adorned with silky blue caps and gowns, were presented with graduation certificates by their instructor Janice Willoughby, signifying all of their hard work over the past three months.
This session’s four graduates are Patrick Palermo, Sidney Roberts, Randy Jackson and Claude Nedd.
The core purpose of the program is to prepare the students for long term employment in a “real world” work environment. Almetra J. Franklin, St. Mary CAA’s chief executive officer said, “It makes me proud to be a part of a program that helps to encourage people to reach for their goals and make achievements they once thought were unattainable.”
Two of the graduates are already gainfully employed, while there are prospective job opportunities for the remaining two. The guest speaker, South Louisiana Technical College Director of Student Affairs Tanya Johnson Anderson said, “Follow your dreams, stay focused on your goals, and above all things; keep GOD first in all that you do. Success will be sure to follow.”
St. Mary CAA instructors have already completed two sessions of the LRS Work Readiness Program with nine people graduating and maintaining permanent jobs. A third session is currently ongoing.
