Hanson golf team takes second place

CARENCRO _ Hanson Memorial Golf team earned a second place finish in the Acadiana Area Golf League match here Monday at the Farm D’Aille Golf Course.

The league consists of 15 high school teams from throughout Acadiana.

Teams making up the Acadiana Area Golf League are: Franklin High School; Hanson Memorial High School; Acadiana High School, Rayne High School and Opelousas Catholic High School.

On Monday, forty-six players played nine holes in the first of six matches in the Acadiana Area Golf League.

The top three team finishers were: Opelousas Catholic, first, 172; Hanson Memorial, second, 208 and Acadiana High School, third, 222.

Opelouas Catholic’s Christian Fontenot recorded a 37 to take first place with teammate Jamison Thomassee shooting a 40 for second place.

Hanson’s Bret Senette placed third with a 43 while Franklin High’s Brandon Burdett shot a 44 for fourth.

Hanson’s Eric Rogers finished in fifth place with a 45 while Franklin High’s Slade Pontiff finished eighth with a 47.

Franklin High School’s Brandon Burdett will participate in the Catholic High Invitational in his next outing.

The Acadiana Area Golf League’s next match is set for February 20th at Spainish Trail Golf and Country Club in New Iberia.
