At about 6:20 p.m. Monday, police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle riding around Mayon Street. The driver attempted to coerce a young male juvenile into the vehicle, according to a police news release.
The juvenile was walking on Mayon Street when a white van, unknown make or model, stopped to talk with him. Witness advised that the driver offered him a ride.
A passerby in the area, who knew the juvenile, stopped to see why the van was stopped and why the driver was talking to the juvenile.
It was determined that the driver had offered the juvenile a ride. There was no physical contact made between the driver or the juvenile, only conversation, the release stated.
The van was described as a white cargo/panel van. It had no side windows. No license plate information was available.
The driver was described as a heavy set white male with long brown/blonde hair and a light goatee. This is the only incident that has been reported.
Anyone who might have been in the area and may have witnessed the van leaving from the area is asked to contact the Morgan City police detective division at 985-380-4605.
