Two men, who were already in jail, were arrested after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies learned that they allegedly tried to cash fake poker machine tickets at three local businesses.

Tony Dwayne Teague, 44, of Sebby Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday for two counts of theft by fraud.

Lance Tyler Ashmore, 20, of Chester Bowles Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday for theft by fraud.

A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft at Whiskey Heaven bar in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from the complainant and a witness that two male subjects, identified as Teague and Ashmore, cashed in multiple fake poker machine tickets at the business.

Through further investigation, the deputy also discovered that Anchor Lounge in Bayou Vista fell victim to their scam. Teague is identified as the subject who cashed in a photocopied poker machine ticket at that business. Both suspects were already in jail at the time of their arrest. Ashmore was taken into custody on Monday on related charges at Xtreme Daiquiris. Teague was taken to jail and held on a sheriff’s office warrant. No bail is set.
