BERWICK — The Berwick Lady Panthers defeated Kaplan 47-27 in District 9-3A action in Berwick Tuesday.

On a night that senior girls’ basketball players were honored, it was seniors that led the way.

Abigail Ohlin had 25 points, while Haley Girard added 10 and Khadijah Johnson, seven.

Berwick (9-13 overall, 4-6 in district play) will try to continue its winning streak when it travels to Franklin Friday for a District 9-3A contest. Earlier this season, the Lady Panthers edged Franklin in Berwick, 38-37.

Big second half

lifts CCHS to win

Central Catholic used a second-half surge to pull away from Gueydan for a 51-31 District 8-1A win Tuesday.

While the Lady Eagles and Gueydan went into halftime tied at 15, Central Catholic outscored its opponents 36-16 in the second-half for the victory.

Meo Knight led Central Catholic with a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds as well as five steals and three assists.

Teammate Randi Brown, who led the squad in scoring with 20 points, was a rebound short of a double-double with nine. She also had five steals and three assists.

Other top Central Catholic contributors included Caroline Byrne, six points, two steals and two rebounds; Abbie Bergeron, four points and a rebound; and Makayla McDaniel, three points, two assists and two rebounds.

Central Catholic (19-7 overall, 6-0 in district play) can clinch the District 8-1A title with a victory against Hanson Memorial Friday.

Morgan City falls to

Vandebilt Catholic

The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Vandebilt Catholic 56-24 Tuesday at home.

No individual statistics were available from the contest.

The Morgan City Lady Tigers’ seniors were honored prior to their game.

Morgan City (7-18 overall, 1-6 in district play) will conclude its season Friday with a District 8-4A contest at Assumption.
