MORGAN CITY, La. -- A 19-year-old Morgan City man was arrested at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Wednesday after allegedly striking a victim and subsequently stealing a phone in Bayou Vista.

Vincent Ardell Thomas Jr., 19, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the sheriff’s office in Morgan City on warrants for first degree robbery and simple battery.

On Saturday, the sheriff’s office received a complaint of a robbery. The victim stated that while walking on Delmar Road in Bayou Vista he was approached by two males who demanded his mobile phone. When the victim refused, the two male subjects struck him and took the victim’s phone and money. During the investigation, Thomas was identified as a suspect and warrants were issued for his arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:

—Nicole Fisher, 41, of Belanger Street in Morgan City was arrested at 12:58 p.m. Wednesday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Fisher was observed placing items in her purse. Fisher then failed to pay for the merchandise before leaving the store, the report stated. She was released on a summons to appear in court on May 21.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported no arrests.
