Morgan City falls
Morgan City fell to Assumption 39-34 in the Tigers’ District 8-4A finale.
While the Tigers played well defensively, limiting the Mustangs to below 40 points, they struggled on offense as senior standout Tyrin Watts did not play in the contest.

After Assumption outscored Morgan City 5-2 in the first quarter, both teams picked up their scoring production in the second quarter as Morgan City outscored Assumption 13-12.
The Tigers trailed 17-15 going into halftime.
Both teams put up 12 points in the third quarter for a 29-27 Assumption lead after three quarters, and Assumption outscored Morgan City 10-7 in the fourth quarter for the final.
The Tigers, whose record now stands at 13-13 overall and finished district play at 2-6, will wait to find out if they made the playoff field when the brackets are announced Thursday.
While the Tigers entered last week ranked No. 28, they dropped their final two contests, to Vandebilt Catholic on Tuesday before Friday’s loss.
