FSHS Hornets defeat Berwick

Jamal Johnson tossed in a career-high 30 points, leading the Franklin Senior High School Hornets to a 72-59 District 9-3A victory over the Berwick Panthers in the season finale Monday at the FSHS Gym.

Franklin (14-15, 7-5) outscored Berwick in every quarter on the way to the 72-59 victory.

Franklin salted away the huge victory with a 32-20 outburst in the fourth quarter. Berwick struck back with a vengeance in the second quarter, securing a 15-6 run for a short-lived 28-22 advantage at the half. Franklin retaliated with a 17-11 run of its own to knot the game at 39-all at the end of the third period. In the fourth quarter, Franklin blew away Berwick with a 32-20 spurt, posting the 72-59 season-ending victory.

Johnson led all scorers with a career-best 30 points on 10 deuces, two 3-pointers and 4 of 9 free throws. Jarion Brown finished with 13 points, sanking two deuces, a pair of treys and 3 of 6 freebies.Rounding out the scoring for the Franklin Hornets were: DeAndre Charles, 8; D’Marcus Bowie, 8; Simieon Theodile, 7; Tarence Clark, 6 and David Kinchen, 2.
