Eligible participants will have the opportunity to complete an eight-week culinary training session. Upon completion, participants will have been taught necessary skills to acquire jobs in the food industry.
According to Almetra J. Franklin, St. Mary Community Action Agency chief executive officer, the goal of the training session is to promote healthy, thriving families in St. Mary parish.
The grant provides intense case management, job readiness assessments, personal effectiveness skills training, financial literacy, retraining (certificate program in culinary arts), emergency assistance for basic food needs, and transportation for outreach services. This is not an income-based program.
