Glenmora edges Centerville

GLENMORA _ The Centerville Bulldogs came up on the short end of a narrow 62-60 loss to Glenmora Tuesday in the first round of the State Class B playoffs.

Centerville finished the season with a 15-15 overall record.

No. 15 seeded Glenmora earned the narrow win over the No. 18 seeded Centerville Buldogs.

Glenmora, which jumped outfront by a 13-12 first quarter lead, padded its cushion to 28-20 thanks to a 15-8 burst in the second stanza. Both teams tossed in 21 points each in the third period as Glenmora a 49-41 advantage. The Centerville Bulldogs went on a 19-13 fourth quarter flurry but came up just short in with Glenmora holding on to the 62-60 win.

Centerville’s Jumanji Washington pumped in a game-high 31 points on 12 deuces and a perfect 7 for 7 free throws.

Other top scorers for the Bulldogs were: Juwan Thomas, 9; Courtland Pogue, 7; Quinton Nettles, 7 and Zacchaeus Jackson, 6.

Eric Baker led Glenmora with 15 points while Treyvon Winters tossed in 13 with Isaac Bosby and Taylor Denegall firing in 10 points apiece.

Glenmora moved to 24-15 overall with the State Class B bidistrict playoff win.
