BAYOU VISTA — Central Catholic exploded for 17 runs in the first inning en route to a 22-0 victory against Assembly Christian in three innings Tuesday.

Kimberly Russo had a triple, three RBIs and a stolen base to lead the Lady Eagles, while Gee Garrett and Olivia Crawford each went 1-for-2, with Garrett recording two RBIs and Crawford, one run batted in.

On the mound, Brittany Longman earned the win as she surrendered two hits and struck out three in two innings of work.

The Lady Eagles (5-0) will return to action today when they host Destrehan at 5 p.m. in Bayou Vista.

Brusly edged Berwick

Brusly used a six-run inning in its final at bat to escape with an 8-7 win against Berwick Tuesday.

Brusly trailed 7-2 heading into its final at bat in the bottom of the seventh.

However, the seventh inning was more than just Brusly lighting up the scoreboard.

Entering the seventh inning, Berwick led just 3-2 before plating four runs.

While Brusly and Berwick both collected 10 hits apiece, Brusly benefited from four Berwick errors.

Shelby Bergeron was tagged with the loss for the Lady Panthers as she surrendered eight runs on 10 hits with three walks and one hit batter in seven innings of work.

At the plate, Abigail Ohlin led Berwick with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a home run, two RBIs and a run.

Other top contributors included Celeste Bowers, 2-for-3, a run, a triple and two RBIs; Elizabeth Hover, 2-for-4, a run and a stolen base; Bergeron and Alexis Kates, each 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI; and Shannon Theriot, 1-for-3, a stolen base and an RBI.

Berwick (2-3) will return to action Thursday when it hosts E.D. White at 3:30 p.m.
