LAFAYETTE (AP) — A Sunset man has been arrested after a bar fight that left a Lafayette man dead.

Lafayette police said 37-year-old Jay Lane was booked with second-degree murder in the death of 38-year-old Lucas Fargo Jr.

Witnesses said the pair got into a fight in the bar about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and Lane punched Fargo repeatedly in the face, knocking him unconscious. Witnesses said Lane then kicked Fargo in the head with steel-toed boots.

Police and paramedics tried to resuscitate Fargo, but he was pronounced dead about two hours later at Lafayette General Medical Center.
