Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson for Mrs. Evelynne Reedy Tyner, 83, a native of Petrolia, Texas, and a longtime resident of Bayou Vista, who passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 4:05 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center. Burial will follow in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Patterson. Chaplain Joseph Coyne of Southern Care Hospice in Thibodaux will officiate the services.

Evelynne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In 1947 she married the love of her life, Hayden Ernest Tyner. In 1949 they, with their firstborn daughter, moved from East Texas to Opelousas. Not having any family in the area, they quickly adopted their Opelousas friends as their “Louisiana family.” In 1963 they left Opelousas with now their three daughters and settled in Bayou Vista. Although she lived in Louisiana for more than 60 years, she still considered herself a “transplanted Texan.” Many will remember Evelynne as a people person who loved cooking and entertaining. Her passion was enjoying time spent with her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Broussard and her husband, Barry, of Berwick, Carol Wengert and her husband, Brent, of Houma, and Gail DeHart and her husband, Chris, of Bayou Vista; two sisters, Mary Aston of Pasadena, Texas, and Dorris Bryant of Leesburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Kristyn Broussard Moore, Brady Broussard, Jeremy Dolci, Kellie Bani-Saaid and her husband, Hassan, Kyle Wengert, Shantell Toups and her husband, Lance, Scott DeHart, and Melanie Griffin and her husband, Joel; and seven great-grandchildren, Sara Moore, Hayden Moore, Layla Bani-Saaid, Tyner Bani-Saaid, Morgan Toups, Cade Toups, and Gabriel DeHart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Hayden Ernest Tyner; and her parents, Wesley Byrd Reedy and Mary Etta Patterson Reedy.

A gathering of family and friends will be held today at Ibert’s Mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brady Broussard, Jeremy Dolci and Scott DeHart, and grandsons-in-law, Hassan Bani-Saaid, Lance Toups and Joel Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Aston, David Dolci and Bo Cayce.

The family would like to extend their deepest heartfelt gratitude to her sitters, Aline Bertrand, Gertrude Prestenbach, Fedora Estay, Debbie Bonner, and granddaughter Shantell Toups, for the loving care given to Mrs. Evelynne over the past 3½ years.
