Amelia man arrested over loose pit bull chasing kids

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Tourino Olvares Flores, 45, of Beadle Street in Amelia, was arrested at 8:23 a.m. Friday for violation of the parish leash law. A deputy responded to a complaint of a pit bull dog running loose and chasing children. The deputy made contact with the pit bull’s owner, identified as Flores. Flores was released on a summons to appear in court on June 12. The pit bull was turned over to animal control as it was not properly registered nor was it given the proper restraining accommodations.

—Johnathan C. Francis, 50, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:56 a.m. Friday on a warrant for criminal trespass. A deputy was advised that Francis was at the parish courthouse in Franklin and had an active warrant for his arrest. Francis was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $500 bail.

—Michael Allen Everitt Jr., of Clark Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested Friday at 4:39 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of drug paraphernalia. A deputy located Everitt on the warrant near the intersection of South and Clark roads. Everitt was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Eric Geibel, 42, of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:06 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for no tail lights and driving under suspension and on a warrant for expired inspection sticker and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area made contact with Geibel while on a complaint. The deputy conducted a warrants check and was advised by dispatch of the warrants for his arrest. Geibel was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $6,000 bail.

—Joaquisha Mingo, 27, of Ciro Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Saturday for theft. A deputy responded to Ciro Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from the complainant that Mingo had stolen cash from his wallet, the report stated. Following an investigation, Mingo was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $1,000.

—Gene Butts, 25, of Old Jeanerette Road in Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:43 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace by using profanity, remaining where forbidden, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of loud music.

—Aaren Brown, 31, of Riverside, Calif., was arrested at 9:51 p.m. Saturday for remaining where forbidden.

A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a complaint of a fight at the Amelia Belle Casino. Upon arrival the deputy learned from casino security that Butts and Brown were engaged in an argument involving profanity and were told repeatedly to leave the casino and both refused, the report stated. Following an investigation, both Butts and Brown were taken to the parish jail and held.

Butts was transferred to another jurisdiction. Brown was released on $500 bail.

—Traciel Guidry, 31, of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace by using foul language.

—Leon Guidry, 27, of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace by using foul language. A deputy responded to a complaint of two subjects possibly involved in a fight. Upon arrival, the deputy observed both Guidrys arguing loudly in the driveway. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the two had been aggressive towards each other, the report stated. Both were taken to the parish jail. Both were released on $250 bail.

—Nelson Howard Francis, 36, of Theodore Boulevard in Lafayette, was arrested at 12:53 a.m. Sunday on fugitive warrants from the Lafayette City police for failure to appear and from St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. A deputy responding to a complaint of a reckless driver conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the complainant’s description. During the stop, the deputy identified the driver as Francis and learned of the warrants for his arrest. Francis was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Jelena Freeman Roberts, 55, of Hunting Road in Patterson, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Sunday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Roberts was observed attempting to walk out of the store without paying for some items. Roberts was released on a summons to appear in court on June 12.

—Dale Pearce, 52, of Evergreen Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Pearce at his residence on the warrant. No bail is set.

—Keldon Jones, 19, of Leo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:45 pm Friday on Freret Street near Fifth Street in Morgan City, for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and abuse of toxic vapors. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area made contact with a person identified as Jones. Detectives located synthetic cannabinoids on Jones, the report stated. He was released on a summons to appear in court on June, 12.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—Jose Mireles, 19, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:16 p.m. Friday for license plate required and on a warrant for failure to appear for illegal possession of a pit bull. Mireles posted $530 cash bail.

—James Voisin, 28, of Watson Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Friday for license plate required and driving under suspension. Voisin was released on $1,250 bail.

—Justin Meaut Jr., 41, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:35 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, a probation violation and on a warrant from the Monroe County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office for possession of LSD and possession of Xanax. Meaut is still being held.

—Danita Chambless, 45, of Frontage Road in Amelia, was arrested at 10:23 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer. Chambless is still being held on $450 bail.

—Rocky Decoux, 18, of Main Street in Jeanerette, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Sunday for possession of alcohol by a person under 21, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and careless operation of a motor vehicle.

—Kevyn Peters, 19, of Main Street in Jeanerette, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Sunday for possession of alcohol by a person under 21 and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Peters was released on $1,500 bail.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Jerry Boyer, 69, of Michigan Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:59 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Boyer was taken to jail and held with no bail set.

—Mhuahn Sharp, 25, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a fine. Sharp was taken to jail and released after posting $215 bail.

—Jack Phillip, 59, of Todd Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:04 a.m. Saturday on warrants for failure to appear for expired registration, driving under suspension, no insurance and contempt of court. Phillip was taken to jail and held with bail set at $2,060.

—Mario Barahona, 30, of Houston, was arrested at 2:12 a.m. Saturday for speeding 45 mph in a 25 mph zone, and driving under suspension. Barahona was taken to jail and released after posting $692 bail.
