AMELIA — Central Catholic extended its winning streak to five games this weekend with a 3-0 performance in its tournament.

Combined in wins against South Lafourche, Centerville and Houma Christian, the Lady Eagles held a 27-3 advantage in runs scored.

On Friday, Central Catholic defeated South Lafourche and Centerville by identical 11-0 scores, while on Saturday, the squad won a much closer 5-3 game against Houma Christian.

Brittany Longman earned the win against South Lafourche to improve to 5-1, while Megan Landry won the final two games to improve to 6-1 overall.

No individual statistics were available.

Central Catholic (11-2) will open District 8-1A play Tuesday when it hosts Ascension Episcopal at 4 p.m.

Lumberjills finish 3-0 at

Bayou Plaquemine Classic

The Patterson Lumberjills ended a rough week on a huge note with a 3-0 mark at the Bayou Plaquemine Classic.

The Lumberjills, who entered the contest following two run-rule losses in District 9-3A played against North Vermilion and Berwick earlier in the week, outscored their opponents 36-4 in the weekend sweep.

The squad defeated Plaquemine Friday, 8-2, and on Saturday, earned an 11-2 win against St. Michael the Archangel and a 17-0 victory against Family Christian.

Taylor Hall earned the win in all three contests.

No individual statistics were available.

Patterson (12-2 overall, 0-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when they travel to face Kaplan in a 4 p.m. contest.

Berwick wins one at

Parkview Tourney

The Berwick Lady Panthers won one of three games at the Parkview Baptist Tournament this weekend with a 14-7 victory against Rayne Saturday.

The win was sandwiched between a 6-3 loss to E.D. White Friday and a 6-5 loss to Parkview Baptist Saturday.

No individual statistics were available.

The Lady Panthers (9-5) will return to action today when they travel to face Assumption High School for a makeup, non-district game that had been rained out Feb. 21. Varsity will start at 3:30 p.m., with junior varsity to follow.

Morgan City finished 1-2 at Hahnville Tourney

The Morgan City Lady Tigers finished 1-2 at the Hahnville Tournament with losses to Ursuline and Destrehan before rebounding with a win against Central Lafourche.

In a 6-0 loss to Ursuline, Marilynn Bailey led the Lady Tigers with a 1-for-2 performance with a triple, while Brandi Ingram and Aliya Green each finished 1-for-3.

Tyler Hebert earned the win as she struck out four and hit one batter.

In a 6-1 loss to Destrehan, Bailey finished 2-for-3 with two triples, while Green turned in a 2-for-3 day with a triple and an RBI, and Katelyn Adams was 1-for-3 with a run.

Hebert struck out seven and walked two.

In an 18-1 win against Central Lafourche, Bailey again had a huge game as she finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs.

Other top contributors included Hebert, 2-for-4, a double, three RBIs and two runs; Adams, 2-for-3, two RBIs, two triples and two runs; Brandi Ingram, 2-for-4, a triple, an RBI and a run; Taylor Prince, 2-for-4, an RBI and two runs; Green, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Cayla Mayon, two RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs; Katelyn Alvarez, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs; and Morgan Comeaux, an RBI and two runs.

On the mound, Hebert walked two and struck out 11.

The Lady Tigers (6-7 overall, 0-1 in District 8-4A play) will try to snap a four-game losing streak Tuesday when they host South Terrebonne in district play at 4 p.m.
