Bayou Vista Garden Club’s current civic development projects include workdays on Southeast Boulevard and at Bayou Vista Community Center. The Welcome to Bayou Vista Landmark flowerbed was weeded in preparation for spring planting. Members are attempting to eradicate the invasive torpedo grass which grows from rhizomes below ground. Both manual and chemical controls have been applied over several months. The trees along the boulevard were mulched and pruned. At the Bayou Vista Community Center the nandina and ligustrum shrubs were pruned, weeded and mulched.
