Leslie Guerin of Plaquemines Parish, New Orleans, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, from complications associated with cancer.

Leslie was born in Morgan City on May 1, 1959, to the late James Douglas Guerin Sr. and the late Virgie Hebert Guerin. She graduated from Morgan City High School in 1976 as a junior.

She spent many years living on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi where she worked in a variety of outside sales positions. Leslie was a great admirer of the beach and loved to entertain her non-Louisiana friends by showing off her Cajun cooking skills.

Leslie was best known for her love for life, her contagious smile and laugh, and her free spirit.

She is survived by her daughter, Tara Aucoin Sims of Houston; granddaughter, Madison Sims of Houston; and sisters, Debbie Moran (Jim Moran) of Baton Rouge, Charmaine G. Hedrick of Rayne, and Denise Mendoza (Cary Mendoza) of Berwick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Douglas Guerin Sr. and Virgie Hebert Guerin of Morgan City; and her brother, James Douglas Jr. of Morgan City.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home, 1031 Victor II Blvd., Morgan City, LA 70380, 985-384-8605.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of traditional funeral flowers, plants and flowering plants would be appreciated.

My prayers are with Leslie's family, especially Tara who lost her mother way to soon and Madison who will not have the chance to get to know this wonderful lady.

Leslie is one the best friends a person could possibly have in life. I deeply regret not being able to be a part of her life over the past 6 years.

I do not know one person that loved life more than she did. Rest in peace, Leslie
