BAYOU VISTA, La. -- Two Patterson men were arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges and other charges by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s narcotics detectives after deputies conducted a traffic stop in Bayou Vista, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Jeremy Hall, 22, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Thursday for proper equipment required, condition of windshield, driving under suspension, unsafe condition, obstruction to driver’s view, possession of marijuana, and two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana.

Dontrell Williams, 19, of Ellis Street in Patterson, also was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.

A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle on Belleview Street with no driver’s side mirror and a cracked windshield. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as Hall, and the passenger, identified as Williams. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy discovered that Hall’s driver’s license was suspended. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana, the report stated.

Narcotics detectives were then contacted to render assistance. During a search of Williams, he dropped a bag and attempted to cover it with his foot. The bag was recovered and contained marijuana, the report stated. Detectives also learned that Hall had active warrants for his arrest. As the deputy attempted to detain Hall, he fled on foot onto nearby church grounds, but was apprehended.

Hall and Williams were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
