Franklin City Council members meet Tuesday in regular session for March.

Guests include Brenda Viator with the Mom2Mom organization, David Bourdier and the Cypress Sawmill Festival queens and Glenn Mayeux of Detel Wireless.

Departmental reports are expected from water plant operator Bernard Daniels on the water tower rehabilitation project, Development Director Arlana Shields on the summer arts program and City Recreation Center Director Chris Barrilleaux on the summer recreation program.

The council will consider introducing ordinances fixing the city’s tax rate; fixing compensation for council members at $850 per month and for the mayor pro tempore at $950 per month.

Ordinances up for adoption will amend current and upcoming fiscal and capital outlay budgets.

There are resolutions lifting the open alcohol container law, no glass containers allowed, for the Bayou Teche Bear Festival April 19-21; lifting the fireworks ban April 27 for Relay for Life; and authorizing Detel Wireless to access city right-of-way to install fiber optic service to schools within the city.

The council meets at 6 p.m. at city hall on Iberia Street.
