Gerald James Fabre, 73, a native of Morgan City and resident of Bayou L’Ourse for 40 years, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his residence while surrounded by his loved ones.
To cherish Gerald’s memories, he leaves his loving wife of 41 years, Jennie Rodriguez Fabre of Bayou L’Ourse; four sons, Clement Paul Fabre of Bayou L’Ourse, Scotty Fabre of Ricohoc, Blaine Fabre of Texas and Fabian Breaux of Bayou L’Ourse; two daughters, Radonna Richard of Eunice and Antoinette Fabre of Texas; two sisters, Kay of Bayou Vista and Rena of Morgan City; one brother-in-law, Poochie of Bayou Vista; three sisters-in-law, Anna of Berwick, Markeita of Berwick and Verna of Morgan City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In heaven, Gerald joins his parents, Clement and “Tilly” Fabre and numerous brothers and sisters.
For 20 dedicated years, Gerald worked for Vincent Guard as the supervisor. A certified gun instructor, he also enjoyed hunting and taking his grandchildren fishing, especially with Brandy, Alexa and Lambert, who were known as his favorite fishing partners. Just as much as he enjoyed fishing, he also enjoyed his wife’s good cooking. His wife fondly remembers how Gerald never removed his wedding band, a true mark of a perfect husband. “You couldn’t find a sweeter man if you tried!” his wife, Jennie stated before adding, “but most importantly, he was honest. He hated lies.” To put it simply, Gerald was a trustworthy husband, father, grandfather and friend; a person who knew the true meaning of love.
A time of remembrance will be held for Gerald on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.
The funeral home will reopen for visitation Monday, March 25, at 9 a.m. with dismissal at 9:45 a.m. followed by graveside services in the Morgan City Cemetery where Gerald will be laid to rest.
