Botanic Garden’s offers Children’s Garden Series

BATON ROUGE — Garden insects will be the featured subjects at the Children’s Garden program at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden from 9 to 11 a.m. on April 28.
The Children’s Garden Series presents hands-on activities for 6- to 12-year-olds, said AgCenter fruit and vegetable specialist Kiki Fontenot.
The April program will present “Creepy Crawly, Good and Bad — Having Fun with Insects.”
“Millions of insects are invading our gardens. But don’t panic. Some are good; some are bad,” Fontenot said. “Children will be able to investigate the insects that may be found in their own yards and gardens.”
Attendance is limited, and a $15 fee is required for each child. Reser-vations must be made in advance by email to Angie Wall at angwall@cox.net. Parents or guardians must stay with children during the event.
Participants will receive snacks and garden take-home crafts.
The LSU AgCenter Children’s Garden Series is hosted by the East Baton Rouge Master Gardeners. The Botanic Gardens at Burden is located off I10 at 4560 Essen Lane in Baton Rouge.
