Shooting leads to arrest
Baldwin Assistant Police Chief Samuel Wise III reported that Sandra LeBlanc of Baldwin was killed last week, shot by her husband.
According to Wise, on Oct. 21, at approximately 12:48 p.m., the Baldwin Police Department responded to a call in reference to a female subject that had been shot by her husband.
Angela LeBlanc informed authorities that while going check on her mother, who was not answering the telephone, she had noticed her father, Sonny LeBlanc Sr., riding a bicycle in only his underwear on the 200 block of Main Street. LeBlanc Sr. stated to his daughter that he had shot his wife, Sandra LeBlanc at 101 Newman Street, Baldwin.
LeBlanc Sr. was located the same day near Dixon Funeral Home on Main Street, Baldwin, and was taken into custody by authorities.
He was arrested on the charge of second degree murder.
Wise further reported that upon officers’ arrival, Sandra LeBlanc was found to have been shot in the chest.
