Suspect indicted in retired principal’s homicide; Prosecutor won’t seek death penalty

A St. Mary Parish grand jury has indicted a suspect on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a retired elementary school principal. The prosecutor said he will not seek the death penalty in the case. Michael L. Guidry, 50, of Morgan City, was indicted Thursday on one count of first-degree murder in the death of Patricia Lynne Russo, said Assistant District Attorney Anthony Saleme of the 16th Judicial District.
